Jim was appointed to Belle Meade July 1st of 2016. He has served in the Tennessee Conference of The United Methodist Church for 43 years and has served churches of all sizes. In addition, Jim served as a Chaplain for the Tennessee National Guard and retired with the rank of Major in 2002 after 20 years of service. Born in Dickson and raised in the Woodbine neighborhood of Nashville, Jim attended Glencliff High School, Martin Methodist College, Athens State College, Vanderbilt Divinity School and Columbia Theological Seminary from which he earned his Doctor of Ministry degree. Jim is married to Tari and they have 4 daughters and two glorious granddaughters. He is an avid tennis player and sailboat enthusiast.
Rev. Sam McGlothlin
Sam was appointed to Belle Meade UMC in July 2016. Previously, Sam worked for Mountain T.O.P., a non-profit dedicated to rural life ministry in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee, where she served as the Program Manager of Recruiting and Public Awareness from 2008-2013. Sam has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Auburn University (08) and a Master’s of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School (16). Sam has a desire to make sure visitors feel welcomed and included in all areas of our church life. She is married to Mark and has one child, Lewis. Sam loves to travel and spend time outdoors.
Rev. Gracie Dugan
Pastor to Children & Families
Gracie is an ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church. She has been blessed to serve and learn with the children and families of Belle Meade since August 2015. She is a life long United Methodist who is passionate about leading children to connect to faith and the church community. Gracie is a graduate of Lee University and Vanderbilt Divinity School. In her free time she enjoys reading, eating Mexican food, cuddling her cats and going on adventures with her husband and two daughters.
Pastor of Youth & Families
Steve received his BFA from the University of Memphis with a concentration in Graphic Design. In May of 2018, Steve graduated From Vanderbilt Divinity School with a Masters in Divinity centered on a concentration in both theological studies and the creation of art. Steve has been in youth ministry for over 20 years now serving in the Memphis area before moving to Nashville.
In his free-time, Steve loves spending time with his family, watching movies, creating art, and exploring God's beautiful creation. Steve loves working in various mediums including sculpture, pottery, drawing, painting, recycled materials, and photography. He has been a part of group shows at Vanderbilt University, Vanderbilt Divinity, Downtown Presbyterian Church, and the University of Memphis. In his work, Steve often explores the intersectionality of art, spirituality, embodiment, and being.
Steve has been married to his beautiful bride, Amy Stone, for the past 15 years. Amy is a 6th grade math teacher at St. Paul Christian Academy. Steve also has a smart, creative, sporty daughter named Caroline who is 12 years old and attends Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet School.
Nancy G. Reiser
Minister of Music and Worship
Nancy Reiser joined the staff of Belle Meade UMC in January of 2016. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, she received the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South, and the Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Before attending graduate school, Nancy was Music Intern at West End United Methodist Church in Nashville. She has served as Assistant Organist-Choirmaster, All Saints’ Chapel, Sewanee; and Organist- Choirmaster of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, FL, All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Austin, TX, and St. George’s Episcopal Church in Nashville. She has been on the faculty of several national conferences for Church Music, Organ Pedagogy, and Liturgy. The granddaughter of a Lutheran pastor, Nancy finds a particular affinity with the power of hymns in corporate worship.
Contemporary Worship Director / Children’s & Youth Choir Director
Alana has worked at BMUMC since summer of 2010 but in January 2017, she was officially welcomed to the staff as the Director of Contemporary Worship and the Youth and Children’s Choir Director. Along with leading worship for the 8:30 Contemporary service, she serves as the alto section leader for the Belle Meade Choir. Alana also directs the Joyful Noise Children’s Choir and the Youth Choir and enjoys arranging music for both of these groups. She graduated from Belmont University with a commercial voice degree with an emphasis in composition and arranging. She is a singer-songwriter who has found herself lucky to be a part of many musical endeavors in Nashville over the years, covering pop, country, classical and contemporary christian genres. Alana and her husband Phil have a daughter, Adeline, and two cats, Benji and Murray.
Barbara is our Finance Administrator and resident Yankee. She manages church membership, stewardship, and financial pledges. She has worked at Belle Meade UMC for 10 years. Barbara loves animals and the New England Patriots!
Robert grew up in southern Indiana. He received a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Evansville, Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology (Emory University), and Master of Accountancy from Belmont University. An ordained United Methodist minister, Robert has also worked in real estate and banking, and has done accounting work at Edgehill UMC, Belmont UMC and McKendree UMC.
Robert is married to the Rev. Meg Lassiat, who serves on the staff of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in Nashville.
He enjoys reading, sports, music, visiting the mountains or beach, and 5k runs.
Greg Thompson has specialized in digital storytelling and communications throughout his career and studies. Using his expertise in marketing, content management, and interviewing, Greg has helped churches in VA and TN convey the history and culture of their communities through their online presence. He studied Marketing and Film Studies at the College of William & Mary (‘13), and is a recent graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School (‘19). Greg also hosts Out Loud: LGBT Stories of Faith, a podcast centering on conversations of faith, community, and the divine with LGBTQIA+ folks.
Greg and his partner, Michael, love living in Music City, from the great hikes around town to the exciting food scene, and of course, catching local, live music anytime. Greg is also a serious coffee enthusiast.
Director of the Belle Meade Children’s Center
Lynn started as Director of Belle Meade Children's Center in Sept. of 2007. Prior to this position, she spent 5 years directing Outlook Nashville, an inclusive program that was comprised of 30% children with special needs and 70% typically developing children. She was the owner of Imagination Crossroad Toy Store and The Games Store from 1990 to 2000. Lynn has 3 children, 3 granddaughters, and a great big dog.
