Understanding the Bible

Given that the Bible does not generally provide definitions or explanations for terms and concepts found within its pages, readers may find it helpful to have some background understanding as a frame of reference to facilitate one’s reading. While some terms, such as Lord and Adonai, may be familiar. Some other terms may not be so familiar, such as progressive revelation or plenary inspiration. This brief study will explore the importance of these terms and hopefully enhance the reader’s appreciation of the biblical content.

This class will be led by Dr. Ernest Heard, who teaches in the College of Theology and Christian Ministry at Belmont University. Students should bring a Bible to class.
